FOSS game news

So what kind of gaming related news have piled up in my list during the last month (yes it has been nearly a month since goat's post :( )?

Freeroid recently got a major update, bringing it up to version 0.14. Another major update was given to us by the great Hedgewars team, so who needs worms if he can have hedgehogs? They also make better splashes under my car...*hust*.

Forget what I just said, FreeGamer minion! Concentrate on the news I bring regarding the the FOSS MMORPG Ryzom. You might remember that this game has gone free as in freedom (but not as in beer) some time ago, and besides various improvements, it now resulted in a working Linux client. So go and try out their free 21 day trial if you are on Linux (you better be ;) ).

On the FPS side of things I have both good and bad news: First the bad ones... the very promising project Axis Revenge has closed down again for unspecified reasons. Some of their stuff will be going towards the also very nice looking Xreal based Weaver project. But no, that wasn't the good news yet... I recently came across another promising project based on the Cube2 engine, called CLONE, a rather funny name given that they want to make a CS like game ;) Not much to see yet, but the guys involved seem quite dedicated and experienced. So lets wait and see.

Hmm... what else? Ahh yes, the creator of the great AlienArena recently showed up in our forums to give us a peak at a new trailer for the upcoming AlienArena2011:

Another Cube2 /Syntensity based project I am currently closely following, is CubeCreate. It tries to become a really polished FOSS game engine and distribution platform, and so far I like their approach (like LUA scripting).

Oh year, for the RTS fans... the new Warzone2100 3.0 Beta looks rather nice, and also has a test build with an improved netcode now. Personally I can't wait to see the Art-Revolution models integrated however. So watch this space for updates on that!

What's up Michael Jackson fans? Well I am not a fan myself but I saw how people supported him and his a real popular music artist some of his songs is epic and touched millions of people.

It looks great to see this on a game and hopefully they made it nice and cool.

In this game you will experience playing as if your the real Michael Jackson performing with his cool moves. All of his popular music are included such as Beat it and Billie Jean.

Please note that this is due for release on November 23, 2010 I'm gonna watch if this will become popular just like the artist himself.

Tron Evolution

Yup just doing some advance posting and building links for this page I want to re-claim my rankings and sure I'm gonna get that back big G you are unfair lol.

Yeah there's only one detail that I know of about this game it's based on the Movie Tron Legacy which is due for release on December 17, 2010 in the US.

I watched the trailer and it looks uber cool and if I get the chance I will watch it with my family or just buy a copy from PSN. Guess what am I telling the truth about buying a copy from PSN? Truth or Lie well secret lol. Welcome to the P___artei dude. Hahaha. Grin grin

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

Whoa!!!! I am updated again? I don't what the heck happened but this site went to hiatus just when God of War Ghost of Sparta went out that was when I am expecting to get flooded with traffic. I am suspecting it's because of the surveys from CPALEAD even my PR got lost huhuhu that's real sad. What happens if my PR sinks or worst get totally lost? Dang revenue looses as well.

Ads showing on my site will be the one's that offers the least or the one's that has low budget. I am glad that it just went back I mean my trophy pages just went back and I hope I'll get the usual earnings back.

Anyways this is supposed to be a gaming blog not drama or some SEO site so let's shift topic. I know for sure that the world is gonna go crazy with this game knowing how popular Final Fantasy is and I want to take advantage of my neighbors hopefully no one has written anything about this yet so I get on top.

FYI this is not out yet according to IGN this will be out on December 13 of this year. If a demo comes out I will surely update this page.

From the first moment you turn PES 2011 on, the all round product feels more polished than its predecessor. The majority of menu’s in the game are now image orientated, and scroll horizontally along the bottom third of the screen. Whilst last years circle theme’s were a nice idea, they didn’t really lend themselves to practical navigation, something which Konami have clearly focussed on this time. Overall, everything is presented with ease of use in mind, and text and graphics are easy to read and quite clear to follow. Edit mode is one area which has had very little change from a presentation point of view, and whilst a number of new features are included in the mode, expect the same vertical lists and similar inputs when creating anything within PES.

A major change within the presentation set up is the new look formation screens. For those who have played the demo, these screens will have become second nature, but for PES veterans, the drag and drop player selection feels more like a management sim than PES. Fortunately, it works very well, and now asking your winger to push further forward or have one CB sweep can be manipulated with real ease. This is complemented with a new look ‘management settings’ option, which dictates the way your team plays and sets up depending upon the time and score line within any given match. This is exceptionally helpful when playing against AI, but also for your own team, as you can justify why a certain player is holding a certain position, or making a run during any given period. Having come from a background of text based formation screens, the new look PES 2011 screen is highly welcomed and perhaps more importantly, very effective.
